Field Trip

Yesterday we had an amazing field trip to the Rolla Recycling Center. The students got to view the process of sorting and making the products into bales to be resold. They also got to see some products that are made from recycled materials.

After a great picnic lunch we went and saw The Lorax. The movie was great and really taught a lot about conservation of trees. Students will be comparing the movie to the book later today.

Students are already asking about composting, recycling, and picking up litter! I love seeing them get so excited about saving our Earth!

Penguins

Last week and this we have been studying penguins in our classroom. We have read the story "Littlest Penguin" and this week we are reading "Emperors Egg". All of our centers use penguin themes. Many of my ideas, especially the lapbook I got from this lapbook site.

Lapbooks are great for the students to remember information about almost any topic. I will post pictures soon of some of the students work.

Coffee House

Make sure you stop by for coffee house. We have rescheduled it for January 31 at 5:00 pm. Students will be reading some of their exceptional work and I will be sharing some changes in our classroom. Come by and enjoy a treat and a warm drink.
